non-standard sidebar-button?

No, that GNOME 2.28.

Maybe this: Watching a film in mute is pointless? ;)

streaming bar?

a) time label (mm:ss) is not located next to the slider bar that represents time.

b) Waste of pixel space between volume button and player controls.

c) Ok.. some dvd feature? :)

Looks like it's streaming, with a gradient on the streaming bar...?

Buffering status, big play button. Would be nice to get rid of the sidebar button (I think no other GNOME app has such a widget) and put time display there (getting rid of the status bar in the process).

It's got to be the streaming bar. It shows how much has loaded! I haven't seen that before.

Ok, i think you mean the Streaming bar, b ut i also noticed your ugly font settings. :)

Why have you set your font to 8px and waste so much space on the botton?

The window hasn't resized properly to fit the video...?

concerning the Sidebar widget, GTK is lacking a sidebar icon

There are 2 cases :
- Sidebar is for a dedicated task then icon should be related to the task (see Evince for an exemple)
- Sidebar allows different tasks : you need a dedicated sidebar button. Phraymd author created one - see http://phraymd.googlegroups.com/web/phraymd-update-2-s1.png

i've sent a mail to tango-artists@lists.freedesktop.org in october but it has never been approved by moderator
