Hardware enablement

Patches flying, and the results are nearly there.

Driver for the Apple Infra-red Receiver should soon be upstream (and a patch not to break LIRC setups), along with support for the Intuos 4 wireless tablet.

Ross merged patches in Gypsy which should allow for crappy serial GPSes to work, as well as the one on the Nokia N810 (and N900?), and the (even) crappy(er) ones that require a closed-source daemon and write to a FIFO.

So that means the Apple iPod dock should work with the Apple remote?

zekopeko: That's a very good question. My guess is that the IR receiver on the universal dock isn't visible to the computer, just the iPod (eg. it works like the wired remote they sell). But if you have such a dock, drop a mail with the output of "lsusb -vvv" as root, and we'll see what it says.

Yep, I'm afraid the dock doesn't show any special devices to the computer when plugged in, so the remote only controls the iPod that's plugged in, and doesn't actually need a computer to work.
